Pediatric Physiotherapy Associates is happy to share that we are working with Helping Hands Tutors. They provide private tutoring and other academic services for children with a variety of special needs and disabilities. All of the tutors are Ontario Certified Teachers with Special Education qualifications. The tutors have the opportunity to work with students who are receiving pediatric therapy such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech/Language Therapy. This provides access to therapy consultation during the course of tutoring if needed. With parental consent and based on assessment, a pediatric therapy service provider may recommend strategies to help facilitate the learning process.
In addition, many of the tutors have additional training and experience working as Writing Coaches. Writing Coaches work as a team with Occupational Therapists and focus on reducing the academic gap that may have resulted from fine and/or gross motor difficulties or difficulties with attention. Academic support and recommendations are provided by Pediatric Occupational Therapists.
Through this unique learning experience, Helping Hands Tutors have gained a unique understanding of a variety of learning difficulties and effective learning strategies, which facilitates a smooth transition from therapy to academics.
